Tod Brininger leverages more than 20 years of experience to defend the rights, freedoms, and futures of clients charged with crimes – particularly offenses involving DUI / OVI, alcohol and drug violations, and first-offender felonies.
Tod was selected to the list of 2021 Ohio Super Lawyers (the top 2.5% of lawyers under 40 in Ohio), and has represented over 4,000 people accused of DUI / OVI offenses in more than 45 of Ohio’s 88 counties. Few attorneys have more experience working in so many different Ohio courts.
A former intern with Franklin County Public Defender’s office, mayor’s court prosecutor, and Acting Judge in Morrow County Municipal Court, Tod has amassed extensive insight into the inner workings of Ohio courtrooms, DA offices, and law enforcement agencies, as well as DUI training programs given to all new Ohio Police Officers.
With offices in Mt. Gilead and Columbus, Tod is able to quickly reach all courts in which he practices in less than 60 minutes. His responsiveness to clients and commitment to their cases have been invaluable in helping secure favorable outcomes, and his insight has earned him a spot as a lecturer at numerous CLE’s and legal seminars, including presentations for the Attorney General’s Office.
An Ohio native and football standout from Northridge High School, Tod played football at Miami University before transferring to Urbana University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned Academic All-American honors in baseball and football. Tod received his law degree from Capital University Law School in 1998, and continues to apply the discipline and determination he honed in his athletic career to his legal practice.
Tod and his wife Linda have three children. When not advocating for clients, he stays busy coaching youth athletics, including Cardington High School Football and the Cardington High Softball team – which he’s led to seven consecutive league championships, and two consecutive state title game appearances.
Mr. Brininger earned his B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Urbana University (Summa Cum Laude), and received Academic All-American honors in both baseball and football. He received his J.D. from Capital Law School, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class.
